De-clutter Your Life

strong mind

This article gives you a couple of action steps to take to help de-clutter your life so that you’re able to run and manage your life and business a little more successfully.

It is said that clutter is a sign of depression and since entrepreneurs are often confronted with these feelings on their journey I came up with a few ways to help us all cope.

Clutter can be in the form of a job, a messy room, a messy workspace, toxic people, drama, etc. the list can go on.

From personal experience, I’ve noticed that I am not as active nor motivated to work when I have clutter in my life. At times I feel melancholy and I’ve noticed how much I have allowed clutter to hinder my growth as an entrepreneur.

So, below is a list of things to help us all learn how to de-clutter.

1- Find Your Motivation

A good way of de-cluttering your life is by figuring out what motivates you and repeating that process every time you feel cluttered.

A large part of finding your motivation is knowing yourself.

This is comprised of your background, what your ticks are, and what makes you happy.

If having nice things makes you happy then that is your motivation.

If being able to do or give things to people sits heavy on your heart, then that’s your motivation.

Being able to take care of yourself or your family can be a motivation as well.

It doesn’t really matter what your motivation is, as long as you’ve figured it out.

2- Meditate

Find a space to meditate and imagine a clean space for yourself.

Use this opportunity as a way of manifesting what you want for your business and even personal life.

This is a good practice for focusing on yourself and establishing those good habits such as positive affirmations.

Often times you will find that you are your only motivation. You can only depend on yourself.

Meditating is a good way of establishing that motivational mindset for yourself.

Which, entrepreneurs need to have while building.

3- Exercise

I’ve found that exercising is a great way to get your energy level up enough to motivate you to put certain things into action.

Exercising encourages those good endorphins to come to the forefront.

Often times it’s what can help you moderate your mindset even more so that it’s more positive and more focused on the task.

4- Fuel Yourself

If you’re not hungry you can’t use that as an excuse to not complete your task.

Health is wealth.

You won’t be able to think clearly if you don’t have a mind or body that is properly being nourished.

5- Go For A Walk

Another strategy for refocusing your mind can be walking. Whether you’re at a park or on a trail.

Sometimes finding that tranquil place in mother nature can help you see things clearly.

You have the opportunity to think things through, be it by yourself or with someone who understands what you’re going through.

Even if it’s a part of your workout routine, you should take the time to connect with mother nature.

You’ll find that it can be very therapeutic to your plight.

6- Be Social

Please, whatever you do. Find a way to get out and be social.

Often times if you stay in you find that your only hindering your progress by staying in your clutter.

Sometimes, even being in a house can cause clutter and stress on your mental.

It’s always good to get out and be social.

Find a local bar to have a drink or go to the theater and watch a play.

Find something else to occupy your mind for a little while.

7– Find A Mentor

Often times you’ll find that your progress and motivation as an entrepreneur can be dependent on who your circle of friends are.

Seek out those who look to motivate you.

Find a mentor and friends who are entrepreneurs as well.

But, be cautious because some entrepreneurs can be toxic or not fully understand your business so they may mislead you.

You need to find people who are in your industry and understand your struggles enough to help guide you properly.

As I mentioned before, a mentor would be the perfect person to help you.

The only downside to this technique is finding them. Which maybe the hard part, but it is doable.

So don’t get discouraged, because there are definitely people out there who are willing to help you.

You just need to be dedicated to doing the hard work to find them.

8- Read

Read, read, read and read some more.

Find books from other successful entrepreneurs who seek to help and guide you on your journey.

Books like…..

Crushing It by Gary Vee

Start With Why by Simon Sinek

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

The 10% Entrepreneur: Live Your Dream Without Quitting Your Day Job by Patrick McGinnis

You Are A BadAss by Jen Sincero

The list goes on.

There are tons of resources for you to use to succeed so use them.

Reading can be a very good way of distracting yourself from the mess until you’re ready to deal with it.

Plus, you may find a lot of great things information inside one of those books that inspires you to do and be greater. The more you know the more your grow.

After all, knowledge is power!

9- Limit Your Social Media Usage

If you allow it, social media can be one of the biggest distractions to your growth.

Some of the items I’ve mentioned above are good ways of replacing your time spent on social media.

If you have an iPhone you can check your usage on your device or even check your usage on the social media outlet itself such as Instagram and Facebook (android users as well).

There are also apps you can download like Buffer or Hootsuite to monitor and control your usage on these social media sites.

If you spend so much time on social media you might as well find a way to monetize your time spent.

You can do this by promoting your business through ads, following, liking, commenting, and sharing posts of those in your industry.

This is perfect for those who haven’t yet gotten started but still find yourself stuck on social media outlets.

Put that time towards researching your market and your audience.

It’s a great way to find out who and what people like.

With enough time spent you can find ways to create businesses as well as what businesses to create and the best funnel(s) for your business.

10- Remove All Distractions

When your life feels cluttered sometimes what you’re focusing on is the real issue.

I know you’ve read or heard the saying, “remove those things that make you feel like you need to be someone else.”

The reason being, is because we tend to focus on the wrong things and fill our heads with clutter and it continues to fester and grow.

Taking our minds off of our end goal.

Toss any and everything out that does not serve your mental state or your goals.

Often times, removing people and social standards that make you feel inferior is the best course of action for your mental.

This step can help you remove doubt and unwarranted expectations we tend to unknowingly put on ourselves.

Thus, resulting in the removal of clutter.

As I mentioned prior, social media can play a big part in allowing these thoughts of yours to fester and grow.

But, if you implement a number of these items you can avoid putting yourself through anything that will hinder your growth and allow for clutter to rule your life.

In Closing…

I hope these tips are useful to you and your journey and if not then figure out what works best for you so that you can de-clutter and get to work!

Peace and blessings!
